We all have seen and read plenty of #SaveWater campaigns over the last 15 years. Did we put a sincere and consistent effort to save water in our life? The answer could be Yes or No. For the ones whose answer is NO we need to start thinking ways and means to Save Water at least now. We need to squeeze sometime from our daily life to educate people in our life who we feel will give us patient hearing and start saving water. We need to express gratitude to various government staff, NGO’s, activists, etc. who have taken upon themselves to spread awareness. Some have gone beyond spreading awareness.

One such organization is Art of Living (AOL) doing splendid work under the blessings and guidance of Sri Sri Ravishankar.

AOL started River Rejuvenation Project in 2013. The idea was to execute long term solutions. The Art of Living’s River Rejuvenation Project has revived 68 rivers and over 1000 water bodies across India. It has benefited the lives of 34.5 million people across 12,077 villages. Many of these rivers were dry, present only on maps, but are now flowing with water.

AOL is reviving ponds, wells, canals and temple tanks in many states.

“We have always used the water from the holy rivers like Ganga and Yamuna to purify ourselves, but today we have reached a point where we have to purify this water. So, we are waging a war against pollution in our rivers. The government alone cannot do it. We will have to come together.” ~ Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

AOL is undertaking River Rejuvenation Project in a scientific way. It involves desilting river beds and water bodies. The focus is to deliver solutions that offers reliable supplies of water in future and engage local communities.

Let us go through some magical numbers achieved by AOL and the journey continues. Over 6,56,000 trees planted, 1,12,500 plus generation of employment through MGNREGA, over 41,000 recharge structure built in Maharashtra, Karnataka, UP, AP and Tamil Nadu.

81 million trees planted by AOL volunteers in 36 countries, and 26 Indian States to bring back disturbed hydrological cycle.
